Monday Morning Link Round-Up

Let's check out the big movie news stories that happened in the last week! These links will be from a whole host of sources. All of these blogs are excellent, and if you don't already, you should follow them! Plus, this link round-up makes my Monday's way lighter...

I will probably end up doing this every week, regardless of how many blog posts I get to. I'm hoping to regularly post movie news, even though I'm also juggling (real life) work and college. I realize that I probably only have a max of 6 faithful viewers, but I like to use this blog as a creative outlet. Sure the writing style is pretty lax, but I just like to have fun with it!

If you're interested in Guest Writing for Yet Another Movie Blog, click here! It would be awesome to get new perspectives on movies and even a review or two each week (seriously! I do NOT have time to watch movies... let alone write a review! Plus, I'm awful at reviewing movies).

Don't forget to Like us on Facebook, Follow on Twitter, and we're with the Google employees on Google+, too! Feel free to shoot YAMB an email at yetanothermovieblog@gmail.com.

Treat this kind of like an Open Thread that we used to do, and sound off on what you'd movies you're interested in!

All right, link time!

Happy 100,000 Hits Day!

There's no party like a YAMB party!

On behalf of all of us here on YAMB, I would love to thank all of our fans for helping us get to 100k on the hit column. Who cares if we make up 98,000 of the hits. It's quite an accomplishment for my little brainchild that seemed 6 feet under not but a few months ago. Well, that may not seem like a lot for a blog that's been in existence for the past 2-ish or so years, it is. Let me explain...

Our lives. In college. In Kute Kitty Form.

While we started out with great intentions to do AMAZING things the summer out of high school, something big came up. College. Between the first few years of college and adjusting to the workloads, the B*Team wasn't really able to keep up Yet Another Movie Blog. Hey, we're only human.

However, lately, we've been pumping out some great content for all of you out there in Internet land. Largely, thanks to our newest blogger, Zack. He has definitely been integral to turning this blog around.

Even though we hit 100k, we are not stopping! We want this blog to keep going and keep flourishing! But! We can't do it on our own.

...We'll Be Back...

yeah... this is a metaphor...

As has been the usual for this blog, we post when we can. Unfortunately, those posts have been coming less and less frequently...

That, my friends, is about to change.

I am very thankful to have some great friends who are willing to help resurrect this little side project. We plan on not only "staying alive" but also growing and expanding our reach.

O Hai Dere.

CRAYONS!!!

Well. School is back in session.

Hurray...?

As you may know, this blog has been slowing down to a near standstill since... well, pretty much since our second month of bursting onto the blogging scene (ha). All of us here at YAMB sincerely apologize for the lack of content. Really. But... Y'know, life happens.

College, lack of content, lack of motivation, and other stuff just kind of got in the way. Mainly college. And now it's back.

That being said...

Wait for it... wait for it...

Happy (belated) New Year!

It's great to back to the ol' blog!

And... Happy New Year to all you YAMBers out there!

We hope this year brings as much fun and excitement as the first year of blogging brought us.

Also, if you were a past follower of our blog, you may have noticed that we changed the site around a bit. Nothing major, just a background shake-up. We thought a fresh new outlook would be fitting for the upcoming new year.

Treat this post as an Open Thread, and share your comments on this site, or your holiday memories, or perhaps your super busy/stressful/awesome interim classes from college. . .

Holiday Gift Ideas! And More News...

Not sure what to give someone for Christmas? Don't want to get caught up in the vicious, maniacal holiday shopping hoards? Too lazy to get off your computer? Well then, we here at Yet Another Movie Blog have a perfect solution for you!

Head on over to the YAMB Astore, always located in the sidebar, or click here!

Look through and choose from a wide range of great films that are reviewed by us, or suggested by viewers, like you.

You could look here, but you'll probably just get
dreadfully lost.

Anyway, we would like to tell all of our viewers out there in cyberland that we are beginning to kick the tires on getting back at this movie blog, and we are attempting to conjure up relevant articles the people want to spend their time reading. If you have any ideas, please comment below!

We are still on our hiatus, and probably won't get any chances to write anything 'til after all of our college exams are finished (whoot!). After all those end, we should be good to go!

Fair warning though, once January or February ends, the blog will once again be put into hibernation. As much as we love writing for you all, we also like to maintain great good adequate passing college grades.

Thank you all so much for following along!

While you're waiting, check out these articles...

Speaking of Facebook... (and other Housekeeping news)

Hello bloggers and viewers and peoples,

I hope you are excited to perhaps start up school or all that jazz. I am looking forward to get the actual school part started... Week One Orientation is crazy busy.

Anyway, not much more is going on besides ridiculous schedules and stuff. I'm sure my colleagues are similarly swamped. However, that has not stopped us from posting some pretty neato articles. I had not priorly anticipated much activity here over the week, as seen in this article.

Week in Review:

~ Oscar Watch: First Installment
~ Comic Book Adaptions, Upcoming Films, and Other Cool Things
~ Top 10 List, the version of Joseph
~ Box Office Brawl, Round II
~ Movie Review: Spirited Away

So, check those things out if you haven't, and comment away!
We like hearing from you, and we love your ideas! Well... some of them...

Here

Open Thread: College Edition

Hello y'all!

Hopefully not my dorm...

Another week, another Open Thread.

You know the drill.

Share your ideas, reviews, life stories, whathaveyou on this thread.

In Case You've Missed It:

Join in a super-random debate on space heroes Han Solo and Malcolm Reynolds.

Don't forget to check out the two Iron Man 2 reviews by Joseph and Nate, and also be sure to look at Ben's Top 10 Films of the Decade.

Be thankful the summer movie lineup is over with, too. Check out the "starter kit" to the 2011 Oscar Season!

Impromptu Random Debate Time!

"Never tell me the odds."
No, really, don't.

A recent article on fellow movie blog ScreenRant titled "If Classic Movies Were Cast Today" sparked some controversy amongst us here at YAMB. Well... actually only one recasting suggestion. And it really isn't about the cast, as it is who is the better character. Thus the reason of this post (and to create more traffic for this site...). Today's debate is between two rather popular space rangers: Han Solo (self-proclaimed captain of the Millennium Falcon) and Malcolm Reynolds (captain of the Serenity).

In the ScreenRant article, Nathan Fillion was suggested to be the replacement of Harrison Ford's iconic Star Wars character, rogue smuggler Han Solo. Nathan Fillion played Malcolm Reynolds in the Joss Whedon created series, Firefly (later spun-off into a movie, Serenity). Thus sparked the debate on which character is better: Han Solo or Malcolm Reynolds.

So, what say you? Who is the better character, Han Solo or Malcolm Reynolds? Comment below and please explain your choices!

Also has a hammer. If you know what I mean...

Geronimo

~Peter

NOTE: As this is my post to moderate, I will not enter in my opinion...

(you have no idea how hard this is...)

*cough* Han Solo! *cough*

Open Thread (One Day Late...)

Good-bye vacation... hello hectic schedule...

Whew! Hello all!

Well, I apologize for having the Open Thread on Wednesday instead of Tuesday this week.
I am ridiculously busy from getting back from vacation and such (like getting ready for college and preparing college auditions).
Anyway, here it is! In all its one day late-ness glory.

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming!
Or you could talk about how we totally sold out and eloped with Amazon...
Or comment on Joseph's at-first-it-was-funny-but-now-it's-incredibly-creepy obsession with Zooey Deschanel.

Comment away! (and if you still need a reminder, here are the Rules and Regulations of commenting)

Open Thread (feat. Disqus)

Oh, and go see this movie.

Whew, another week. Another Open Thread.

I’m sure all of you were riveted last night, enduring the suspense, as the 2010 MLB Draft Signing Deadline unfolded, and you anxiously and nervously waited for the dust to clear so you could check if your team signed its top draft choice. Okay... no one? Only me? Rats.

Anyway, like I said before, use this Open Thread to share with YAMB your ideas on what we should review, what you would like to see on this blog, etc.

Introduce yourself to let us get to know you better! We are really interested in what our viewers are like. Pretty much the same stuff I said on the last Open Thread, but alas, all those comments were destroyed once we switched our commenting software to Disqus. Whoops. Oh well, we start over.

So... comment away! (Be sure to head the Rules and Regulations of commenting. Thank you.)

Open Thread!

Hello viewers!

Well, you asked for it, so here it is: The Open Thread of Ideas.

Use it as a place to present us your ideas on where you would like to see this blog head, or use it as a place to tell us about your favorite films you've seen or whatnot.

Think of this as an "Off-Topic" thread, too. Introduce yourself, tell us how your life is going, etc. We take interest in what our viewers are like.

Thank you AND before you comment, please take note of the commenting Rules and Regulations.

Awesome! Comment away!
