Happy 100,000 Hits Day!

There's no party like a YAMB party!
On behalf of all of us here on YAMB, I would love to thank all of our fans for helping us get to 100k on the hit column. Who cares if we make up 98,000 of the hits. It's quite an accomplishment for my little brainchild that seemed 6 feet under not but a few months ago. Well, that may not seem like a lot for a blog that's been in existence for the past 2-ish or so years, it is. Let me explain...

Our lives. In college. In Kute Kitty Form.
While we started out with great intentions to do AMAZING things the summer out of high school, something big came up. College. Between the first few years of college and adjusting to the workloads, the B*Team wasn't really able to keep up Yet Another Movie Blog. Hey, we're only human.

However, lately, we've been pumping out some great content for all of you out there in Internet land. Largely, thanks to our newest blogger, Zack. He has definitely been integral to turning this blog around.

Even though we hit 100k, we are not stopping! We want this blog to keep going and keep flourishing! But! We can't do it on our own.

Updates from Zack - 24 April 2012 (Iron Man 3 and The Dark Knight Rises)

Zack has been an awesome addition as a Guest Writer! So much so, we've made him a member of the prestigious B*Team! Stay tuned for a short intro to Zack...
This is going to be the staple image for my updates.  Just imagine it's me in that suit, looking super serious.
In an attempt to generate more traffic bring you more comic book news, as well as get an idea into your heads just what we at YAMB at working on in the future, I decided to write this nice article for views you.  Since I'm still technically a guest writer, you're welcome.  In a different reality (obviously not this one) I'm really just writing more so that I can figure out how to use the writing tools for the site.  However like I said....different reality...

...We'll Be Back...

yeah... this is a metaphor...
As has been the usual for this blog, we post when we can. Unfortunately, those posts have been coming less and less frequently...

That, my friends, is about to change.

I am very thankful to have some great friends who are willing to help resurrect this little side project. We plan on not only "staying alive" but also growing and expanding our reach.

New Segment! And it's EDUCATIONAL!!!

Subliminal college recruiting...
You may have noticed that there is a new tab up above (probably not...), and if you were curious enough to click on it, you saw that there was a "Stay Tuned."

Now, some of you might be wary about a tab called "Educational," but don't worry, it's cool. Trust me.

Here at YAMB, we could be seen as "critics." As one of my professors have told me, "Critics are the eunuchs of the world. They can talk about it, but can't do it." Hmmmmm... While being a critic is fun, I mean, we just pretty much talk for a living, making what is being criticized on is even more exciting.

Yes, We Are Still Alive, just barely...

Hello faithful viewers... if you're still out there...

Anyway, as you probably noticed there has been zero new posts here at Yet Another Movie Blog since the beginning of February. Zip. Zilch. Nada. None.

A few explanations for the inactivity could crop up, such as an overwhelming college workload and lack of motivation..., but we prefer to think that we were too busy slaying fire-breathing dragons in some distant land. And they were big dragons. And we slay'd them. All of them.

But seriously, we are shutting 'er down for a wee bit. Unfortunately this blog is a bit of a side-hobby-project thing that takes a backseat over other priorities, like doing well in college, while getting sleep, and actually interacting with people. Weird.

It's a real pity too because there are so many awesome (and not so awesome) movies coming up! Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Pirates 4: Same Johnny Depp Schtick as the other 3, amongst others. Not to mention all the crazy Dark Knight Rising rumors that are swirling around Chris Nolan's latest brainchild, and Zack "THINGS GO WHEEEEEE BECAUSE I SAY SO" Snyder's next mash-up of things that go ka-boom, the next Superman movie, Superman: Man of Steel.

But alas, it cannot be. We are just too busy.

We want to thank all of you who are actually viewing this site, and/or actually taking the time to read this far...

We may be back in action come summertime...

Stay Tuned, folks.

Open Letter: BRB

To our faithful, wonderful viewers,

As you may have noticed, this blog has definitely been slowing down to near-standstill as of late. Due to the fairly busy scheduling of our collegiate careers and overall lack of new material, new posts have been few and far between. We even had a post desperately asking for help. It's been sad and rather lackluster on our part. However, we really like getting good grades in college because that's kinda important...

We know some of you have expressed concern on the future plans of this beloved blog (okay, well maybe not beloved, but still...). Don't worry we will not stop posting the latest and greatest movie news; we are just going to take a brief break.

A hiatus of sorts.

We'll be back.
We have come to a conclusion that we do not want to stop this blog because we really enjoy it, and we love that viewers like you also like reading our material! However, we realize we need to take a break. Therefore, we decided to use November and a little bit of December as some sort of interlude from writing.

Have no fear! We will be back! We won't set a date when we will be return, and if we decide to extend our little hiatus longer than November (say... 'til the summer), we will inform you of that decision. And don't worry, if and when we do decide to come back, we will NOT disappoint.

And, from all of us here at Yet Another Movie Blog
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support!
We really appreciate it! It means so much to us.

So, brb, folks.

Sincerely,
The B*Team
You haven't gotten rid of us yet, world.

College: brb

Hello scholars and learned people!

We hope to be just like you, so we all went to college.
Yes, it is that time of year, where every good little boy and good little girl goes off to school.

All of us will be moved in sometime during this week or so, so the super hectic, eclectic schedules of all of us hinder our ability to write up good, worthwhile posts (unlike this one...). Things have been slowing down here for a few days, and it will come to a near standstill in the next few, so I thought I would inform you on why things are plodding along here.

We apologize for this brief "hiatus" (as in, like, a couple of days, so not too long), and thank all of you viewers for faithfully following us!

Also, please spread word of this blog around! We appreciate all of you, and we would like to see this blog continue to grow in viewership! (We also like making money, so... check out our astore!)

Anyway, we will be back in a few days, and once life gets back to normal, we will put up some good stuff! Thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, check out reviews of films, actor profiles, upcoming films, our Oscar season news, our movies that should be made ideas, and so much more!

Wish us luck as life changes for all of us, and we settle in to college living!

Geronimo!
~Peter

The YAMB astore

It's entirely possible that you guys have noticed a link on our Movie Reviews page to something called the "YAMB astore". Or, you know, maybe you haven't. Either way, it's there. Go check it out.

What is this "astore", you ask? Well, it's a program that any website owner can enter through Amazon (it's called Amazon Associates), and in essence, it lets you link to Amazon products and earn some of the profit from each thing sold through your link. Every time a movie is reviewed we'll add a link to it in our astore (DVD, Blu-Ray, and some special edition stuff). Not all of it will be available immediately, like new movies, but the link will still be there for when they come out.

In addition, there will be links on some of our other posts (like the recent movie musical post by Nate) to those films, but they won't go in our astore unless they're reviewed individually. Not only is that our first post with links to the DVDs, but it also has links to the soundtracks of those films. Hopefully we can continue to add links to all sorts of different items relevant to each post, of course focusing on DVDs and Blu-Rays.

[UPDATE: There are two separate options in the astore: "Reviewed Films" and "Suggestions/B*Team Favorites". Feel free to tell us some movies or TV shows we should put up for sale in our "Suggestions" tab.]

Disqus Commenting

The New Guy.
Well, hello commenters and viewers!

We have changed our commenting system from whatever was in place to Disqus.
Comments from the past may not appear, but they should come back within a day or two.
To comment now, you will need to login (and have) a Disqus, Yahoo, OpenID, Twitter, or facebook account. (The details are still slightly unknown, but we'll figure it out soon enough.)

Hopefully, this change doesn't make commenting more of a hassle.
It will definitely be easier for us to monitor comments and the like.
Thank you for your cooperation!

We enjoy hearing from you, so please, comment away!

We WON! (tickets)

Well, we won tickets to see an advanced screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World!
This is definitely a huge deal for us, as it is the first real "event" we get to take part of in the movie world!
Special thanks to John Serba at MLive (and his blog Project Mayhem) for supplying us with free (FREE!!!) tickets!
Really, none of us really expected to win this contest. We would have been happy if one or two of us won, but it turns out that ALL of us get to go and see this film. In short, we are super excited to see it on Thursday.
To celebrate this event, you will probably find a lot of Scott Pilgrim news or Scott Pilgrim related posts.

Like this Trailer! Enjoy the visual goodness! (Courtesy of YouTube):

Ben got us started and already posted an actor profile of Scott Pilgrim himself, Michael Cera. Anna Kendrick also appears in this film, and she was profiled earlier.
Wow. I still can't believe we get to go to an advanced screening!
Don't worry, reviews will be coming your way!

Guest Writing Options

Hello everyone!

Thus far, the Open Thread discussions are going quite swimmingly! Thank you all for your input, and if you still want to contribute, the discussion is still open. Open Thread here.
Many of you have asked us to review a wide variety of films. While we would love to get around to them all, many of us lack the time (or gumption) to go and see those films.
However, if you have seen them, and want to contribute your viewpoint and review of the film, please, by all means, feel free to do so! All you have to do is email us at yetanothermovieblog@gmail.com with your review, if we like it, we will post it here. It will be posted under one of our names (from the B* Team), but don't worry, we will give you 100% of the credit!
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!

For more information, don't be afraid to use the tabs for the About YAMB and the Contact YAMB pages.

Comment Rules and Regulations

Hello folks!

So, as you probably know, a new commenting system has been set up. More info here.
Great. Let's not bring that junk back up...
But I thought it would be a nice idea to give you all the "down low" on the commenting rules YAMB would like to set in place.
  • Treat each other with respect and dignity. Even though you may not know them, they are, in fact, people like yourself.
  • Treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. Okay, so this one is virtually the same as the first point, but c'mon, while YAMB knows certain people can be quite passionate about their own opinions, please, please, please, do not treat each other with hostility and malice.
  • Stay on Topic. Really. 'Nuff said.
  • Remember that this is a MOVIE blog, not a blog to spread your political ideals, religious affiliations, or other things that are OFF TOPIC. See above point.
  •  Keep it relatively clean. While YAMB realizes some people have a "rougher" vernacular, we want this site to be viewed by all audiences and by people of all ages. Please make your comments age appropriate.
  • Please don't start Internet fights. The Internet is an awful platform to start and carry on an argument. So just don't.
  • Have fun! This is a site where we like to have fun and obsess over all things cinema! Goofiness is great!
  • And finally, do not, under any conditions, feed the trolls.
There. A quick overview of the rules and regulations that we at YAMB would like to see happen.

And remember, we have the power to delete your comments at any time. If we think your comment is inappropriate, it will find itself in the trash bin. We also enjoy reading your comments, and we encourage you to comment! We love the compliments, facts, and constructive criticism from our viewers!

If you have any questions please visit our About YAMB page or the Contact Us page for more information. We use Disqus commenting software, too. More info can be found here.
Thank you!
And we hope you enjoy the site!

Sigh. I never thought it would come to this . . .

....and there goes the Anonymous commenter option...
There was probably an easier way...
Due to the lack of restraint used by some "Anonymous" commenters, I was forced to end the option of allowing "Anonymous commenters" to post here. While I should have gotten rid of the "Anonymous commenter" option before, my blogmates and I thought it would be a good idea if everyone could share their opinion on this site. Well, everyone still can. They just have to log in (via a Disqus, Yahoo, OpenID, Twitter, or Facebook account). This allows us, the B*Team, to monitor our commenters easier, and purge this site of the silly ones.

I really hoped that this crap and trolling wouldn't happen to us, and that our fans, or "fans," of this site would have better self-control than what has been displayed here, but alas, it was not to be. So... from now on, if you want to comment just log in. Don't get me wrong, everyone here at YAMB wants your professional and constructive criticism because we want to make this site a pleasurable viewing experience for all our followers.
Thank you!

B*Team! Assemble!!

Many have heard the calling. Few earned the title to be...
Part of the B*Team (that... did not flow as well as I hoped...)
Well, the blog team has been assembled and is ready for action.
Time for the roll call:
Ben, Blackthorne, Esq., Libby H, J. Bernard Muyskens, Joseph Matheson, Nate S, and yours truly, Peter Schipper.
We hope to bring you the very best in movie entertainment!

Sigh. I'm getting too old for this!

Well. Ain't that swell. I haven't even come up with a worthwhile post about movies, and I already assembled a team to share the workload. Lazy? Yep.
I have begun to assemble a team. As I begin to select them (I feel soooo powerful!), they will introduce themselves in a blog post.
So... thus ends my "Solo Debut".
The end of the beginning is the beginning to... a team of bloggers. (that sounded cooler in my head...)

I hope this will be an elite force of movie bloggers!
Cheers!

My Solo (Blogging) Debut

and I really hope it will be an exciting time, but we shall see...

Hello all,
Welcome to the Movie Blog Site: Yet Another Movie Blog at reallyobsessedwithfilm.blogspot.com. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Peter Schipper, a small, movie obsessed Asian kid. If you do not like my blog, I suggest you take it up with one of my friends (who may or may not be named Nate Slauer). Why, you ask? Well, in short, he told me to create one. Bear with me, as this is my first blog (Special thanks to Blogger are in order, as well.). Suggestions are very welcome! I have had previous blogging experience in sports, but the blog was never my own. This is, shall we say, my solo debut.
Me.
So... here it is.

This blog will feature the latest movie news gathered from around the 'net, as well as a few actual movie reviews. My movie watching abilities in theaters are impeded on by time, money, time, time, and well, time. I am currently gearing up for college and have auditions and other college-y things to pursue. Don't get me wrong, I (think) I'll like managing this blog.

Thank you for following! Let's hope it's a fun ride!
